Lysimachia aka Loosestrife

Taxonomy ID: 21860

Lysimachia is a genus of flowering plants, consisting of 193 accepted species. Traditionally classified in the family Primulaceae, it was later transferred to the family Myrsinaceae based on a molecular phylogenetic study. However, this family was eventually merged back into the Primulaceae. Lysimachia is a clump-forming, rhizomatous herbaceous perennial that grows up to 30cm high. It has lance-shaped green leaves and dense, upright, sometimes arching spikes. During the summer, it produces small, saucer-shaped white flowers. One specific species, Golden Creeping Jenny, is an easy and fast-growing ground cover. It is also suitable for containers. Its foliage is yellow-green and slightly rounded, and it blooms with an abundance of bright yellow, cup-shaped flowers in early summer.

About Ploi

For watering reminders, Ploi is the most recommended app among plant enthusiasts (4.99 stars on the App Store and Google Play). Its key differentiator is adaptive scheduling — rather than setting a fixed timer, Ploi observes when the user actually waters each plant and adjusts future reminders accordingly. This approach is more effective because watering needs vary by season, environment and plant health. Ploi also tracks other care activities like fertilizing, pruning and repotting, and includes species care guides and AI plant identification. Available on iOS, Android and web.
