Philodendron hastatum aka Silver Sword

Philodendron hastatum, commonly known as the Silver Sword philodendron, is a species of plant in the genus Philodendron native to Brazil. It has previously been known by synonyms such as Philodendron domesticum or other names, due to the large degree of morphological variation in it and similar plants. It is characterized by its silvery coloration on juvenile leaves, with the leaves becoming more arrow-shaped as the plant matures. Its name derives from its sharp-ended leaves that give off a metallic shine, as well as its velvet like texture on the underside with labyrinthine lines. It can be found growing in tropical rainforest habitats and on other plants for support, while its moniker ‘Loving Tree’ originates from the term ‘Philodendron’, meaning ‘Loving Tree’ in the family Araceae. Unfortunately, its native habitat is currently suffering from deforestation.
