Asplenium ruta-muraria, commonly known as wall-rue, is a small epipetric fern species that grows exclusively on limestone and other calcareous rocks. It has bluish-green fronds that are heavily sub-divided, reaching up to 12cm in length. In Germany, it is also known as Mauerraute or Mauerstreifenfarn. While it is a super rare houseplant, it requires lots of water to thrive and does best in moderate sunlight, less than 6 feet from a window. Wall-rue prefers soil that retains moisture well and does not require added fertilizer if repotted each time it doubles in size. Despite its name, wall-rue is not closely related to common rue.
