Cheiridopsis denticulata aka Carpet Weed

Taxonomy ID: 10737

Cheiridopsis denticulata, commonly known as "pink fingers" or "pienkvingers" in Afrikaans, is a clump-forming succulent perennial native to South Africa. This small, spreading plant can be found in the arid western part of the Northern Cape, particularly in Namaqualand and the Richtersveld. It features distinctive foliage with thick, greyish leaves that are narrow and boat-shaped. The leaves grow in opposite pairs, often connate and unequal, and have a triangular cross section with a slightly wrinkled surface. With sun exposure, the light blue leaves blush shades of pink and purple. During the summer, Cheiridopsis denticulata produces daisy-like yellow flowers that are approximately 8cm across. These flowers have four or five sepals and numerous stamens, while the petals can range in color from yellow and orange to white, and occasionally violet to red. Overall, this unique succulent adds a touch of beauty to the arid landscapes it thrives in.
